The Norms started off the 2005 season by dropping both ends of a doubleheader.
In the opener, the Norms led Perrier Liquors virtually the entire way despite silent bats after the 2nd inning. Holding a comfortable 6 run lead in the bottom of the sixth, they surrendered 8 runs on a combination of hits and errors and trailed by 2 going into the last frame. The Norms were able to tie the game back up in the 7th, but went down with ease in the bottom of the inning on a walk and consecutive singles by Perrier. The final was 11-10. Norms was led by speedy SS Craig Parucci with 3 hits and hustle all over. Tim Jorgensen and Brent Anderson chipped in with a couple of hits each. "We were hampered by our poor hitting and even worse defense in the right side of the OF" a dejected coach Mike Wright mumbled. "We should've won, we just quit hitting".
The nightcap was a different story. The Valley Lounge Orioles opened up a large lead and won easily 21-7. Parucci and P Eric Harre led the Norms with a couple of hits each. A bright spot was the fielding of Harre, who made some dandy scoops and did very well with his glove as well as his bat. "that young man may be the best fielding pitcher I've ever seen" was a quote heard from severall Valley team members. Another bright spot was the cannon arm of LCF Ryan McCausland. He gunned down two Valley runners - one trying to advance from 1st to 3rd on a single and another runner was caught napping off 2nd base after McCausland made a nice grab in medium LCF.
The Norms return to action on May 10th with a 7pm game against Cooper on Northview Field 7.

Best Fielding pitcher? Mookie thinks it's time for a comeback, if he can get rid of his enormous beer belly...
C'mon Normies, let's start winning. It's a habit. Time to "NUT UP!"
