Norms Split

The Norms came out with their hitting shoes on in the first game of a doubleheader, but ultimately came up short at the end of a hard fought, blood and guts softball game at Lex-Diffley Fields. Valley Lounge/MHC scored 3 in the bottom of the 7th and pulled out a 20-19 victory to keep the 2005 Norms winless. Although it was the Norms best overall performance of the young season, they couldn't help but be frustrated with the outcome. P Eric Harre and 2B Aaron Wright led the hit parade for the Norms with 4 hits apiece and Wright added 3 RBI. OF Brent Anderson chipped in with 3 hits and 3 RBI and SS Craig Parucci continued his hot hitting with with 3 RBI. Arthur Kennedy scored 4 runs for the Norms. "Tough, gut wrenching game - we just keep finding ways to lose" said a disgruntled coach Wright. Rumors continue that his head is on the chopping block after one of the slowest starts in Norms history.
The second game of the doubleheader was just as dramatic as the first, but with a different outcome. The Norms scored a run in the bottom of the 8th as Craig Parrucci trotted home from 3rd base on Eric Harre's long fly ball to snap a 7-7 tie and give the Norms their first victory of the season. The Bombers tied it up with 2 runs in the 7th, but the Norms played some D and sealed the deal in extra frames. Parrucci and Harre did most of the damage at the plate for the Norms once again. Parrucci collected 3 more hits to raise his season avg to a team leading .684. He also scored 3 more runs to push his season total to 11, far and away the best on the team. Harre, meanwhile, added 3 hits and is batting .666 for the year. OF Ryan McCausland continued to impress both at the plate and in the outfield. He smoked a pair of singles and a double and is now hitting a robust .643 on the yr. He also added two more very impressive outfield assists to increase his league leading total to 4 for the yr. "Ryan has the best OF arm I've seen since Theo" said fellow OF Brent Anderson - referring to early 90's Norm Tom Theobald.
The Norms play a single game at 7pm on May 24th at Northview 7
