Norms win 5th in row - now in hunt!!

(June 7th) - The Norms rallied for 8 runs in the top of the 5th inning and then held on late for their 5th consecutive victory, a 10-9 nailbiter over the Valley Lounge Orioles. The win avenged an opening night, 21-7 loss to the O's and inched the Norms closer to first place in the Eagan Tuesday night D league. "It was all about timely hitting and solid Defense" said an exuberant Coach Wright. Wright was referring to the 8 run 5th and inning ending assists from outfielders Derek Willis and Brent Anderson, the latter coming after a catch in medium right field with the bases loaded in the 4th inning. Willis also made a diving catch to end the 4th inning. The night's biggest moment came from 40 year old journeyman Jim Beach, who laced a huge 2 out pinch hit double down the left field line that plated two runs in the monstrous 5th inning. Beach, who had been struggling at the plate and was forced out of the first game of a twinbill last week with sore quadriceps, described the moment "I just waited on the pitch and went out and got it - man it feels good coming off the one game disabled list and contributing".
Eric Harre and Willis led the Norms with 3 hits apiece. Anderson, Brian Marx, Brandon Butorac, Craig Parucci and Ryan McCausland each had a pair of hits. The Norms are back in action next week with a doubleheader in prime time, looking to avenge early season losses to Cooper's and Valley Lounge MHC. See you at the park!
