I am CC'ing the guys who expressed interest, and were sent the original "reunion-like e-mail" back in November to keep them in the loop.
Here's the latest in response to Daughton's e-mail:
We will most likely be playing in Eagan on Tuesday Nights. This is an Open D League, and will not be a West or Thomson League. If anyone knows of players who would be wanting a night of softball on Tuesday Nights, let me know.
So far, my brother, Brent will be managing the team, and is bringing back some players from QWEST (they finished 8-10 last year, and showed promise). I am hoping to play again. In November, I sent out the recruiting e-mail and asked several Old Schoolers if they would be interested. Of those, I received luke-warm responses from:
Dave Heupel
Bruce Werner
Kurt Clark
Todd Schneiderhan
and now
Mike Daughton
We still need to confirm status of each player, including the retiree Hall of Famers (Keith Willaert and Hurt Eckert) That's potentially 6 old school Norms, to combine with 8 or so QWESTies. The roster make-up needs to be finalized here soon. My brother, Brent, is handling that . I am hoping to deliver at least 3 full-time old school Norms, and 2 or 3 full-time subs to the mix. The Norms need to win that league. It has to be done, old legs, fresh lungs and all.
I talked to Scotty at the Valley a few weeks ago and he said he might be interested in helping us with a sponsor. However, since the other Valley Lounge team has been winning that Eagan League, he doesn't want to ruin any relationships with that squad. I asked when I could pick up pur World Champion and State Champion plaques that were removed from the Valley's walls when they remodelled, and he told me stop by anytime and he would look for them. The door is open, and I want to make this work, with a sponsor or without.
You will all be hearing from Brent or myself soon. In the meantime make sure to add http://www.normsoftball.com to your bookmarks, check out the new Hall of Fame section, and get ready for some softball
FYI: This year's uniforms might be black and white with the retro 1994 Norm's logo. You can see a mock-up on the cafepress Norms store http://www.cafepress.com/normsoftball
